About FarFlung

In FarFlung, knowing where a country is located is just the beginning. The game presents five geography-based questions each day, requiring you to place a pin on a map for each one. Notably, a single question may have multiple valid answers, but not every choice will earn you the same number of points.

One pin, many scoring possibilities

You have to place a pin on the map each round before the time runs out. You can only pick one place, so you really have to think about where you want to go. You cannot pick multiple places to increase your chances.

The trick with FarFlung is that the most popular places aren’t necessarily the best. If the question asks for a country, city, or place that is not well-known or visited by tourists and fits the description, then it can be a very strong answer.

This scoring system makes each round a dual challenge, one in which you have to get the right answer and try to guess how the other players will respond. And even if you are good at geography, if you pick a place that is too obvious or too popular, you can miss a high score.

How to play FarFlung

Playing Far Flung

Read the question and ascertain the scope

Every day the game gives you five geography hints. Read them carefully to get a feel for the kind of location you need. Then identify the countries or regions that might fit.

Select a location on map

Drop your pin at the location you select. You have one pin per question, so please take your time and don’t rush your decision.

Find less common answers

When you have thought of a few good ones, think about what others will think of. Finding a correct but not so obvious answer could be a great way to increase your score.

Take the journey in the time available

The countdown clock makes you find a happy medium of accuracy and speed. Don’t waste a lot of time trying to think of the “perfect” answer and miss an opportunity to put a pin down. Prioritize completing all five questions.

Where to Find High Scoring Answers

  • Think outside the box: Most answers will be well-known capitals or countries, so try to find a less obvious answer if the question allows for it.
  • Leverage knowledge of lesser-known regions: Smaller nations or locations outside of popular areas can offer excellent, unique options.
  • Consider the reaction of others: Instead of just asking, "What is the correct location?" ask yourself, "What location are most people likely to choose?"
  • Time is of the essence: A correct answer on time is much better than overthinking and not submitting a pin at all.
  • Learn from each day: Note places you hadn’t thought of before; this will increase your knowledge base and give you more options when asking questions in the future.

Who is FarFlung for?

FarFlung is perfect for trivia lovers, map obsessives and anyone who wants to test their deductive reasoning skills against the clock. Those who are knowledgeable about geography will be able to better identify the correct places, and those who have a good instinct for how the “crowd” thinks may be able to think of less obvious, higher-scoring answers.

Challenge doesn’t require a big time commitment, with only five questions a day. But the number of questions is restricted, so every choice is important: a unique answer may significantly affect your final result.
